MAX needs your help!!

Max has given love and has become the hero to his family with his work with George. Max was a rescue that CVR adopted in to a family in CT in January. Max became the big brother to the familie's rescue cat, George. George was fearful of everything and stayed in hiding. After Max came, George started socializing with him. This seemed to allay George's fears and now George is "out and about" with the family!

In April, Max started limping on his left front leg. This happened after he had been to the vet and had gotten a Lyme vaccination in the shoulder. He went back to the vet and they took x-rays – found nothing, so put they him on pain medication, which he responded to. As soon as the medication was stopped, his limp came back. The family was referred to a specialist for a consultation, after a visit and allot of money, they came away with no more answers. Max was put back on medication. Still searching for an answer, the family took him to see several other vets - all did the same tests and came up with no further information. A vet at a humane society was their last hope! After a visit to her, she recommended a referral to Tufts.

Finally they now have an answer as to what is going on. The resident said they suspect a neural sheath tumor in the area between the shoulder blade and the neck bones. The only way they can tell exactly where it is, is to do the MRI and that will be the only way to know that if they amputate the leg (which should eliminate the pain), they can get all of the tumor. Also, they need to see if the tumor is benign or malignant and that will make a big difference as far as the prognosis.

He’s pain is no longer controlled by medications and he needs to have an MRI to locate the problem and then have surgery. The total cost is expected to be around $5,000 and they have already spent thousands of dollars trying to find the problem. They need our help to get him taken care of so he can be pain-free.

Max's owner said that when Max was at Tufts for the preliminary diagnostics, George went around the house calling for Max and looking all over. He missed his best friend!

George was a rescue that the family took in over a year ago. He was petrified of people and would barely let the family pet him. If he heard any noise outside, he vanished. Once Max came to the household, George became buddies with him. He overcame his fear of people and is now quite a "normal" kitty! When Max was at Tufts, George was wandering around the house calling for him and looking everywhere to see where he was! He missed his best friend.

The family that adopted Max are a wonderful family and their hearts are hurting because Max is in pain and they have exhausted all of their resources, so we are looking to raise as much money to help Max as we can so Max can have the MRI done and if things look good for surgery, to have that too. Max deserves to live pain free with George and the rest of the family! Please consider clicking on the Donation button at the top. Let us know you want the money to go to Max's care!
